Dear Appeal Process,
I am on Medicare from a disabling accident in 1993, I am a paraplegic. Please help me with these medical bills. Recently I needed to be ambulanced to the hospital. I dialed 911, then thought that maybe I could go by myself. I told the ambulance to NOT take me; they did not listen to me. They took me anyway, and also American Medical Response though billed it as non-emergency. I BELIEVE that they BELIEVE it was an emergency or else they would not have taken me. = $ 297.00 (4-9-00 date) Furthermore when I arrived at Medical Center in xxx they took my Medicare Insurance number than later billed me as though I did not have Medicare. The hospital lost my Medicare number! I don’t have that control number for Deaconess but I do know that they are billing me $504.50. These charges and the ambulance are due to a CHRONIC bladder infection, pain, discomfort, and its called nuerogenic. I BELIEVE I am suffering from CHRONIC lack of bladder control, and the possibility of kidney infection if the pain gets worse, as it was that evening on April 4, 2000, the pain when its that bad means the bladder can rupture and destroy the manageability, especially as the incontinence was at a peak high during these weeks.
Please see to it that my charges are reversed due to the emergency of my pain on that evening and the personal knowledge of what a paraplegic can have happen when pain and incontinence are so severe I had no choice but to have immediate care. At the same time the ambulance did take me there on emergency notices because they thought it IS an emergency. I don’t understand why they would bill this situation as it was, I am telling you, as the patient of my own body, that I know what was happening that evening, and that I NEEDED the care absolutely, without a doubt, I was suffering from a variety of CHRONIC problems.
I appreciate your investigation into these charges; please do not hesitate to contact me. Furthermore, I have stayed off public assistance/welfare.
