The opening will take place on Friday, June 1st from 2 - 5 PM at the Very Special Arts Gallery, 4904 Fourth Street, NW. The Blue Lava Writing Group is composed of nine apprentice artists from VSA arts of New Mexico's studio arts program under the direction of poet-in-residence Dara McLaughlin. Blue Lava, a recently published anthology of their work, will be available during the opening. In her introduction to Blue Lava, Ms. McLaughlin writes, "Within these pages you will discover different language, expression at its purist, and layer upon layer of unusual perspectives that can only be revealed by a minority of human beings." The artists and writers represented in this exhibit will share a diverse selection of their work, including perspectives on disability, life, time, relationships and the weather. As contributor Cindy Brannon put it, "We told stories, some of which were true." VSA arts of New Mexico invites everyone to join the artists for this truly unique exhibit. From: National
