Introduction
Hello from North Fourth Art Center. Our independent nonprofit name is VSA arts of New Mexico (VSA NM) and our center is dedicated to full accessibility in the arts for people of all abilities, ages, cultures and income levels.
Incorporated in 1987, VSA NM has long functioned as a nonprofit organization catering to the learning, creative and entrepreneurial goals of adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. In 2005-06 we renovated our building to become a fully inclusive art center—construction made possible through funding by the State of New Mexico Legislature and the City of Albuquerque.
The N4th program in the visual, performing and literary arts offers artists with disabilities a year round schedule of classes, presentations, exhibitions and sales opportunities. The classes, resident performing arts companies, events and community connections all operate from the North Fourth Art Center, which includes two programs that serve everyone in the Albuquerque arts community, N4th Theater & N4th Gallery.
N4th Theater is a well-equipped and accessible black box theater for both in-house and community use. N4th Gallery exhibitions feature artists from the community as well as N4th artists and touring exhibits in a series of professionally-mounted exhibits annually.
North Fourth Art Center is an exciting arts presence in Albuquerque’s near North Valley and serves as a community arts, culture and education resource. If you haven’t been by our center, please do —and if you have, we look forward to seeing you again soon.
